Earns Second Straight Win Against Lehigh Aguilar notches two goals in Eagles 3-2 victory Game Stats -- Sept. 22, 2001 Washington, D.C. -- The American field hockey team defeated visiting Lehigh, 3-2, to earn the team's inaugural Patriot League win. Junior Magdalena Aguilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Catherine's Moorlands) led the Eagles with two goals and five total shots on goal. Sophomore Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) also had a score in the victory. The Eagles first two scores came early in the first period. Aguilar scored first on a breakaway run to the goal after beating out Lehigh goalkeeper Margo Smith. Snyder scored less than two minutes later on a pass from senior Elizabeth Augustine (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin). The Mountain Hawks did wage a comeback late in the second period. Freshman Kristi Miller had two scores with assists from Blaire Goodwin and Cindy Tindall. The Eagles defense held on for the win and goalkeeper Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) ended with five saves on the day against seven total shots made by the Mountain Hawks (6 in the second period). The Eagles moved to 2-3 overall (1-1 Patriot League) with the win and will face another league opponent in Fairfield this Friday, September 28, at 1:30 p.m. The game will be played at the University of Maryland in College Park.
