Washington, D.C. -- American junior Magdalena Aguilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Catherine’s Moorlands) earned the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Week selection for field hockey this afternoon. Aguilar receives American’s first Patriot League field hockey award after leading the Eagles to a pair of wins last week.

Aguilar assisted on the first goal and scored the game winner in the Eagles' match in Richmond versus Virginia Commonwealth University on Wednesday. She followed this performance with two goals in the Eagles’ first Patriot League win of the season versus Lehigh on Saturday.

This season, Aguilar has netted three goals and one assist. She is tied for second in the league’s game-winning goals category with two total game winners.

With their victories this week, American moved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Patriot League play. The Eagles will host Fairfield this Friday, Sept. 28, at 1:30 p.m. in College Park, Md.

American University, which is in its inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League, officially joined the conference on July 1. The University, founded in 1893, fields a 19-sport Division I athletics program, featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men.
