American Defeats Ursinus, 4-1
Eagles have won four consecutive Patriot League games

Game Stats -- October 20, 2001

Washington, D.C. -- American field hockey played solidly to defeat Ursinus, 4-1, today at Georgetown University. The Eagles have now won four straight Patriot League games and remain tied for second place in the conference. Senior co-captain Rita Delgadillo (Chula Vista, Calif./Hilltop) scored twice for American, earning her second and third goals on the season.

Junior Magdalena Aguilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Catherine's Moorlands) started off the scoring at 9:13 when she found the back of the net on a penalty corner. Ursinus soon answered at 27:27 as sophomore midfielder Amy Midgley sent a rebounded shot back into the goal.

Delgadillo responded with the game winner at 27:44 on an unassisted shot in front of the goal to make the game 2-1 in favor of American. She notched her second goal on the day less than five minutes later after Aguilar sent her a pass in the circle.

Sophomore forward Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) added an insurance goal for the Eagles at 62:59, putting the game out of reach at 4-1.

Junior goaltender Lauren McDonnell (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) had a strong performance with 11 total saves against 12 shots by the Bears.

American moves to 6-6-0 overall, 4-1-0 while playing in the Patriot League. The Eagles have a busy weekend, as they will travel to Norfolk on Sunday for a game at Old Dominion 1:00 p.m. Their next Patriot League match will be on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Bucknell at 2:30 p.m.
