American Field Hockey Finds Trouble at Bucknell
Eagles fall, 3-2, to Patriot League foe

Game Stats -- October 27, 2001

Lewisburg, Pa. -- American field hockey struggled against league opponent Bucknell this afternoon and lost, 3-2. Junior Magdalena Aguilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Catherine's Moorlands) and sophomore Kate Finn (Derwood, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) each scored for the Eagles in the effort.

American scored first late in the first half as Aguilar sent an unassisted goal past Bison keeper Mel Rhoads. The Eagles later scored again early in the second half when Finn knocked in a penalty corner from Karlijn Schellens and Kecia Jones.

Bucknell then launched a second-half comeback beginnina with a goal by Lauren Campbell (assist Amy Mandell) fifteen minutes into the half. The Bisons later evened up the game at 2-2 on a penalty stroke goal by Campbell. With only 21 seconds remaining, Annie Hunsicker took an assist from Lisa Bingaman for the final score and the Bison win.

American moves to 6-8-0 overall, 4-2-0 while playing in the Patriot League. The Eagles have clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament, which begins next Saturday, Nov. 3 at the highest seed. They play against Cornell at Princeton tomorrow at 2:00 and play in their final league match on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Lafayette at 4:00 p.m.
