Aguilar Earns Fourth STYX/NFHCA All-Region Nod
Senior led Eagles in scoring four straight seasons

WASHINGTON – American University senior Magdalena Aguilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Catherine's Moorlands) was named to the 2002 STYX/NFHCA Division 1 Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team Monday for the fourth time in her collegiate career.

Aguilar, who led the American University field hockey team in scoring four straight years including 15 goals and five assists in 2002, was a two-time First-Team All-Patriot League selection and a two-time First-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick as well. She will participate in the 2002 Division I North/South Senior All-Star game to be held at the University of Louisville on Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. during Final Four weekend.

Finishing second in the 2002 Patriot League goal-scoring race, she is listed as the school's second all-time leading point- and goal-scorer with 125 career points and 53 career goals. She is also sixth among program leaders in assists with 19.

American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, recently completed its inaugural year of membership in the Patriot League. The University had an extremely successful year to date on respective fields of play, capturing league championships in men's cross country, women's cross country, men’s soccer, women's soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse.
