Infante, Villagra and Miller Named to
2003 STX/NFHCA Division I All-Region Team
Eagles finish season 17-4 overall, 6-0 in Patriot League

Camila Infante was named to the STX/NFHCA Division I All-Region Mid-Atlantic First Team.

WASHINGTON- Freshman Camila Infante (Santiago, Chile/Santiago College), junior Javiera Villagra (Santiago, Chile/Santiago College) and senior Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) were all named to the STX/NFHCA Division I All-Region Mid-Atlantic Region team, announced by the NFHCA Monday.

Infante, one of the three freshmen to make the Mid-Atlantic First Team, had an exceptional campaign, scoring eight goals and dishing out 11 assists, including three at the NCAA Play-in game against Quinnipiac. Her dynamic stick work and superb passing skills also earned her a spot on the All-League Patriot League First Team, as well as Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors.

Villagra will join Infante on the Mid-Atlantic First Team for her outstanding effort in leading the Eagles to its first ever NCAA berth. Villagra has been a powerful force in her first year as an Eagle, scoring a total of 17 goals, including two goals against Towson and Fairfield in addition to four goals against Quinnipiac in the NCAA Play-in game. Villagra is also honored as a selection on the Patriot League All-League First Team.

Goalkeeper Miller finishes her career as a selection on the Mid-Atlantic Second Team for her incredible effort in defending the Eagles’ cage. In addition to her 10 shutouts, Miller has ranked among the top goalkeepers in the nation, ending the season third in goals against average at .933 and first in the nation with a .856 save percentage. Miller was honored earlier in the season as Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and will represent the Eagles with fellow senior Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) at the 2003 STX/NFHCA Division I North/South Senior All-Star game that will be played Nov. 22 at the University of Massachusetts.

The Eagles finished one of the best field hockey seasons in school history as they fell to No. 2 Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament. With a 17-4 overall record and a 6-0 record in the Patriot League, AU field hockey will look to next season to repeat as Patriot League champs and to gain another berth at the NCAA tournament.
