Snyder
leads Eagles to 3-2 victory over Bucknell
November 1, 2003 Stats LEWISBURG, Pa.-Senior Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) was able to bid a fond farewell to regular season play as she led the Eagles to a 3-2 victory over Bucknell. Snyder closed out the last game before the tournament with two goals and one assist. The Eagles will enter the Patriot League tournament as the number one seed with a 6-0 record in league play, and a 14-3 overall record. Snyder put the Eagles out to an early lead as she scored the only goal of the first half with 16.50 remaining. Off a save from a penalty corner, the ball reached the back of the cage and the Eagles went up 1-0. Five minutes into the second half, Snyder again was able to finish the ball off as she was able to score again, and bring the Eagles lead to two. Going into the Patriot League tournament, Snyder leads the Eagles with 14 goals and 6 assists. As the second half continued, the Bison offense was able to rally back just three minutes after Snyder’s second goal when Meiko Boynton was able to tip the ball in from a Bucknell penalty corner. The Bison’s were able score again and tie the game up when a shot off a pass from a breakaway slipped past senior Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown). The Eagles rallied back and were not willing to let the Bucknell Bison’s break their Patriot League winning streak, so less than a minute after the score was tied up, freshman Camila Infante (Santiago, Chile/Santiago College) made the game winning goal off a penalty corner with assists from Snyder and sophomore Maureen Daniel (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa). This is Infante’s sixth goal, and Daniel’s 10th assist of the season. As the Eagles finish
their regular season undefeated in the league, they now look to winning
the Patriot League championship Nov. 7-8 in Worcester, Mass.
