Jennings Named 2003 Dita/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year
Led Eagles to the best season in school history

AU Head Field Hockey Coach Steve Jennings has been named the 2003 Dita/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.

WASHINGTON – American University Head Field Hockey Coach Steve Jennings has been named the 2003 Dita/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

In his fifth year as the Eagle’s head coach, Jennings has transformed the Eagle field hockey team and established them as a nationally recognized team. In 2003, he led the Eagles to the best field hockey season in school history, including the team’s first trip to the NCAA tournament as well as the Patriot League championship.

In addition to his duties as the head coach of American University, Jennings has served as a member of the U.S. Women’s National coaching staff in 2001 and has coached the national team at the Championships Challenge in South Africa and the World Cup.

A 1997 graduate of Maryland, Jennings is regarded as one of the finest U.S. field hockey players. He was a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team from 1991-1999 and represented the United States at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.
