AU Field Hockey Places 12 on the NFHCA Div. 1 National Academic Squad
Hershberger leads Eagles with 3.94 GPA in Political Science

Heidi Hershberber led the Eagles on the NFHCA Div. 1 National Academic Squad with a 3.94 GPA.

WASHINGTON – The American University field hockey team placed twelve members on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad, officials announced Wednesday.

Athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average during the fall semester to be eligible for the award and the Eagles garnered the most honors of Patriot League schools and the tied for third highest overall, behind Stanford and LaSalle.

Sophomore Heidi Hershberger (Davis, Calif./Davis) led the Eagles with a 3.94 GPA in Political Science, while Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year, Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) followed with a 3.88 GPA, also in political science. Also on the academic squad: Emily Berlin (Greenfield, Mass./Greenfield), Maureen Daniel (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), Shannon Goans (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill), Krysta Hankee (Germansville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh), Alicia Krawitz (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), Heather Maranzano (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown), Erin Rock (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown), Erin Silliman (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington), Emily Smith (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) and Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard).
