AU Field Hockey’s Carroll Named ECAC Keeper of the Week
Freshman monitors backfield for Eagles

Freshman Lindsay Carroll stands out in net for American University.

WASHINGTON -- American University freshman Lindsay Carroll was named the ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week after helping the Eagles to their longest winning streak of the season through Oct. 14.

The forward turned keeper, who was also named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, made a total of 21 saves in two games including a 1-0, double overtime shutout against Towson on Oct. 9. Last Saturday, Carroll allowed one goal and made 13 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory over Patriot League foe Colgate.

AU, which earned votes in this week’s STYX/NFHCA Division 1 National Coaches Poll, will host Holy Cross on Saturday at College Park, Md. at 1 p.m.

American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, recently completed its inaugural year of membership in the Patriot League. The University had an extremely successful year to date on respective fields of play, capturing league championships in men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse.
