Patriot League Claims Aguilar as Offensive Player of the Week
Senior attacker scores eighth and ninth goals of season for Eagles

Magdalena Aguilar has scored nine goals for the Eagles this season.

WASHINGTON — After leading the American University field hockey team to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Lehigh Saturday afternoon, senior attacker Magdalena Aguilar earned the status of Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in her career.

Aguilar found the back of the net twice this weekend as the Eagles beat Lehigh 2-1 and lost to Temple, 2-0. She has recorded nine of the Eagles' 14 goals this season. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native currently ranks second among AU career goal leaders with 45.

AU (5-5, 1-1 Patriot League) heads to Fairfield Saturday for an 11 a.m. start.

American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, recently completed its inaugural year of membership in the Patriot League. The University had an extremely successful year to date on respective fields of play, capturing league championships in men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse.
