American Finishes 5th at Holiday Inn Colonial Golf Classic
Sophomore Chris Schieffer leads Eagles with a 73

Chris Schieffer shot a 73 on the final day of the Holiday Inn Colonial Golf Classic.

Moon Township, Pa. - American University’s Chris Schieffer (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) led the Eagles with a 73 on the second day of the Holiday Inn Colonial Golf Classic. Over the two days Schieffer led AU with a score of 155 (82-73=155) as AU finished 5th as a team, and Schieffer, 13th individually. The tourney was hosted by Robert Morris University and held at Montour Heights Country Club.

Oakland (Mich.) University broke away from the pack and finished first with a team score of 606. St. Bonaventure (621), Longwood (625) and Robert Morris (626) all finished ahead of the Eagles (635). American was ninth after the first day of competition, but shot a 311 as a team to climb into the 5th spot.

Freshman Ben Hartman (Jupiter, Fla./SunCoast) finished 19th individually (77-80=157) and was followed by sophomore Phil Kief (Kingwood, Tx./Kingwood), junior David Stone (Morgantown, W.V./Morgantown) and junior Seth Kaplan (Dallas, Tx./J.J. Pearce). Kief was 26th with a score of 160 (82-78) while Stone finished 33rd (83-80=163) and Kaplan 50th (86-84=170).

American will be back in action on Oct. 28-29 at the ODU Seascape Collegiate Invitational.
