Eagles Take Second at Columbia's Lion Collegiate Golf Tournament
Kief ties for fourth in individual standings

Phil Kief tied for fourth with a 149.

WESTOVER, Md. — For the second time this season, the American University golf team nabbed second in the team competition, this time led by fourth-place finisher Phil Kief's 76-73-149 showing Saturday at the Columbia’s Lion Collegiate Golf Tournament held on the Great Hope Golf Course.

SUNY-Binghamton garnered the team crown with 593 points followed by AU's 609. Ranked Towson University was a close third with 610 followed by host Columbia with 611.

Kief was the high Eagle finisher as he tied for fourth followed by David Stone's 77-74-151. Seth Kaplan fired a 80-75-155 and Chris Schieffer's 79-78-157. Matt Michaels was solid, shooting 84-75-159 for AU.

American will be back in action on Oct. 14-15 at the at 2002 Holiday Inn Colonial Classic hosted by Robert Morris University.
