American Finishes 12th at GW Invitational
March 28, 2004 | Stats ISSUE, Md. - Freshman Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) led the Eagles with a 150 score (six over) at the George Washington Invitational. His rounds of 73 and 77 helped him finish in a six-way tie for 14th place. Junior Phil Kief (Kingwood, Tx./Kingwood) had the best round of any Eagle on the second day when he shot a 75. He finished +10 at 154, which was good for a tie for 32nd. Seth Kaplan (Dallas, Tx, J.J.Pearce) finished in a tie for 65th after posting rounds of 79 and 81. His total of 160 was 16 over. Junior Chris Schieffer (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) shot a 165 (83 & 82), which left him in a six-way tie for 84th. As a team the Eagles finished in 12th place with a team score of 629. George Washington shot a 596 to grab the team title by three strokes over Princeton. Nam-Kyu Park won the individual title with a six-under-par 138. The Swan Point course is 6,761 yards and a par 72. The Eagles will next compete at East Carolina next weekend.
