American Finishes Sixth at Bullock Collegiate Classic
April 18, 2004 | Stats FAIRBORN, Ohio - Junior Phil Kief (Kingwood, Tx./Kingwood), led the Eagles to a sixth-place finish at the Bullock Collegiate Classic after shooting a 230 for three rounds. Kief shot an opening-round 75 and followed with scores of 79 and 76 on the second day of competition. Freshman Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) also got off to a fast start by shooting a 73 on the first day. In the second and third rounds he shot a 78 and 80 respectively. His total of 231 was just one in back of Kief, and good for a tie for 14th. Senior Seth Kaplan (Dallas, Texas/J.J. Pearce) earned a tie for 22nd after coming back from an opening round of 80. He shot a 76 and 79 in the second and third rounds, and ended the tourney with a 235. Chris Schieffer (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) shot a 241 overall, but only his first two rounds of 78 and 81 counted towards the Eagles total. Senior Matt Michaels (Hamilton, Ontario/Westdale Secondary) shot a final round 80 to score for the Eagles. Overall, Michaels shot a 252 for the three rounds. Eastern Kentucky won
the team title with a total of 898 and the tournament medalist was Billy
Houle of Cleveland State, who finished with a one-under-par score of 215. The Eagles will next compete in the Patriot League championship this weekend, which will be held in Hamilton, N.Y..
