American in Three-Way Tie for Second Place at Patriot League Championship
April 24, 2004 | Stats HAMILTON, N.Y. - Todd Shagin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) shot a 115 after 27 holes, including a 38 on the last nine holes, to finish in a tie for second after the first day of the Patriot League Championship. The Eagles are in a three-way tie for second and will try to improve tomorrow when they play another 27 holes to decide the title. Shagin shot a 77 for the first 18 holes, placing him just one shot behind junior Phil Kief (Kingwood, Tx./Kingwood). Kief followed his 76 with a 45, which was not included in AU's team scoring. Kief is tied for 18th. Senior Paul Servidio (Carmel, N.Y./Harrison) did not play well on the first 18 (93) but his 42 on the final nine holes of the day was good enough to count in the team scoring. Seth Kaplan (Dallas, Texas/J.J. Pearce) shot a 119 for the day, leaving him a tie for 11th. Kaplan shot a 79 on the first 18 and followed that up with a very solid 40. Chris Schieffer (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) shot a 120 for the afternoon with a 82 on the first 18 holes and then an outstanding 38 on the final nine. He is tied for 17th. Bill Hurley of Navy leads everyone with a 111 for 27 holes while Lehigh is in first place after the first day with a team score of 470. The tournament is being held at the Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton, N.Y.
