Doctor nets
1,000th point in Eagles' final CAA game
In its final game
as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, American beat James
Madison, 63-48, today in a CAA game before 2,980 at Bender Arena. James Madison (11-16, 6-10 CAA) got a team-high 15 points from Chris Williams and nine points off the bench from Pat Mitchell. With 15:06 to play in the game, a Doctor bucket gave AU its largest lead of the game, a 21-point margin at 40-19. The Dukes cut the deficit to 15 on a Mitchell layup with 9:46 but would get no closer as American would again build a 20 point lead. In the first half, the Eagles came out with strong defense and held JMU scoreless for the first 3:47 of the game and took an early 8-0 lead. Buscalia scored nine points in the opening half to lead all scorers as the Eagles took a 28-14 lead into the locker room. The Eagles' season is now complete as they will not play in the CAA tournament which takes place on March 3-5 in Richmond, Va.
