Claims Share of Regular-Season Patriot League Championship
Feb. 29 , 2004 WASHINGTON – The American University men's basketball team has won a share of the Patriot League regular-season title for the second time in the last three years. They will now play Army in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament. American and Lehigh both finished conference play with identical records of 10-4, however, the Mountain Hawks defeated AU twice and therefore enter the tournament as the top seed. The Eagles will enter the tournament on quite a roll. They have won four straight games, including two road wins this past weekend. They are 6-0 against Army since entering the Patriot League and lead the overall series 6-1. AU will play Army on Saturday, March 6. Game time is 5 p.m. The first two rounds of the 14th-annual Patriot League Tournament will be held at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
