Very athletic for a big man ... a bit raw offensively but has shown the
skills to be a scorer for the Eagles down the road ... named the Patriot
League Newcomer of the Year by Lindy’s 2002-2003 Preseason Guide
... father, Jack, played football at N.C. State ... his mother, Heidi,
swam for N.C. State, was an alternate on the 1976 Olympic team and was
selected for the 1980 squad, which did not compete because of the boycott
... brother Jake is an offensive lineman for Yale.
2003-04
Started in nine of 13 games in which he appeared … had a block,
an assist and a rebound in eight minutes of action against Notre Dame
(12/21) … scored his first career field goal against Niagara (1/5)
… against Pepperdine (12/28) he played in a career high 10 minutes.
2002-03
Blocked a shot in the first two minutes of his first varsity game versus
Missouri (11/22) ... picked up a rebound in three minutes versus Radford
... scored his first collegiate point vs. Army (2/27).
Before American
Had a tremendous senior season as he set the school record for blocked
shots with 110 and finished his career with a school record 137 blocks
... was named Eastern Ohio All-Star and rated by Ohio Roundball as the
seventh best center in the state ... Kohl earned 10 letters in high school,
four apiece in basketball and football, as well as two in track .... in
football he played quarterback ... was a member of the honor roll all
four years.
