Defeats George Washington, 4-3 The Eagles sweep doubles action
MANASSAS, Va. – The AU men’s tennis team swept doubles action to defeat the George Washington Colonials, 4-3, for the Eagles first victory of the season. In the No. 1 doubles position Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) and Andreas Kulscar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg) defeated Matt Hane and Brett Warner, 8-4, while in the No. 2 position Guillaume Tarralle (Paris, France / French International School ) and Juancarlo Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo de Superior Vocational/Saint John’s) defeated Marius Weigert and Daniel Raisbeck, 8-5. In the third spot for the Eagles, Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain / Suffolk County Community College) and Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) secured the sweep of doubles as they defeated Matt Treadglod and Daniel Blake, 8-6. George Washington took the first three spots in singles action, as Tarralle fell 4-6, 4-6, to Treadgold and Garg fell 1-6, 4-6, to Jake Jopling. In the No. 4 singles spot, Kulscar defeated Will Timmons, 7-5, 6-2 and Flieglman conquered Warner, 6-2, 6-0. Sebastian Proisy (St. Nom la Breteche, France) closed the day for the Eagles as he took down Raisbeck, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 6 spot. The Eagles are now 1-1 for the season and will next face Hampton in College Park at 4:00 p.m., Feb. 7. AU vs. George Washington Results
