American Falls To Va. Tech in Season Opener
Garg/Kulcsar take home only victory of the day

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The American University men’s tennis team fell to No. 55 ranked Virginia Tech, 7-0, in the first match of the spring season.

Seniors Tushar Garg and Andreas Kulcsar recorded the only wins for the day as they took down Virginia Tech’s Andreas Laulund and Stephane Rod at the No. 1 doubles spot.

In singles action, No. 1 position Guillaume Tarralle fell to Andreas Laulund (6-0, 6-2), while Garg fell 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 position. Tarralle finished last season with a 7-7 dual match record, while Garg finished with a 11-4 singles record and a 19-10 doubles record.

The Eagles will next face Hampton at the University of Maryland, Saturday, Feb. 7. The time of the match is to be announced at a later date.
