WASHINGTON - Senior Jonah
Fleigelman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) captured his eighth straight
singles victory and helped the American University men's tennis team to
their second straight 7-0 sweep, as the Eagles defeated the Georgetown
Hoyas.
Playing in the No.
4 position for the Eagles, Fleigelman earned his victory defeating Eddie
Carver, 6-1, 6-3. In doubles action, senior Tushar
Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) and Andreas
Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg) also brought home
a victory in the No. 1 position, defeating Dennis Cravedi and Erik Bildman,
9-8. The victory for the pair marked the their fourth straight victory
and 45 career win.
In singles action, Guillaume
Tarralle (Paris, France / French International School) defeated Cravedi,
7-5, 6-3 in the No. 1 position, while Garg defeated Scott Faust, 6-2,
7-5 in the second position. At No. 3, Juancarlo
Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo de Superior Vocational/Saint
John’s) took down Kevin Killeavy in a close 7-5, 7-6 battle, while
at the fifth position, Kulscar defeated Bildman, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, in the
only three-set match of the day. Andrew
Singer (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) closed out singles action
for the Eagles, defeating Alex Wright, 6-4, 6-3.
The Eagles will next face Duquesne and Lehigh, Saturday, March 26 at 10
a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively and then Army and Boston College, Sunday,
March 27 at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
