Continues Singles Winning Streak AU men's tennis sweeps doubles, but falls to Radford, 5-2
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) picked up his sixth straight singles victory and the Eagles swept the doubles, but it wasn't enough as the American University men's tennis team fell to Radford University, 5-2. Fliegelman picked up the only victory for the Eagles in singles, defeating Joakim Arhamman in a three set battle in the No. 4 spot. Dropping the first set, 4-6, Fliegelman fought back and took home the next two, winning 6-4 and 6-1, respectively. In doubles action, the Eagles swept all three matches, with seniors Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) and Andreas Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg) picking up their 43rd career victory as partners. Playing in the No. 1 spot, Garg and Kulcsar defeated the pair of Brandon Johnson and Dominic Soevr, 8-5. Guillaume Tarralle (Paris, France / French International School) and Juancarlo Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo de Superior Vocational/Saint John’s) took home a victory in the No. 2 spot, defeating Andre Cavaco and Arthur Vasarevic, 8-2. Rounding out the doubles, Fleigelman and Andrew Singer (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) defeated Arhammar and Robel Mengisteab, 9-7 in the No. 3 positon. The Eagles will spend the week training and return to action against Howard University, Monday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. The match will take place at American University. Doubles: Singles:
