Eagles still have chance to host tournament

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The AU men's tennis team took a clean sweep
of the Navy Midshipmen, 7-0, to help improve the Eagles chances of hosting
the Patriot League Championships, April 24-25.
Colgate, who defeated the Eagles last weekend, fell to Army
5-2, Saturday in West Point, N.Y. If the Eagles and the Black Knights
both defeat Lafayette there will be a three-way tie for first place in
the league. According to League officials, the decision on who will host
will come down to a name drawing, Monday April 19.
Against Navy, the Eagles took two of the three doubles matches, with Tushar
Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) and Andreas
Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg) defeating Nathan
Malnati and Ryan Osgood, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot, while Guillaume
Tarralle (Paris, France / French International School) and Juancarlo
Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo de Superior Vocational/Saint
John’s) defeated Brandon Carter and Stanley Kahl, 8-6.
Playing up in the No. 2 position, Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) defeated Brandon Carter in a tight 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 match, while Garg played in the top position, defeating Kahl, 6-2, 7-6. At three, Tarralle defeated Osgood 6-4, 6-3, and Vazquez defeated Davy Lee, 6-4, 6-2.
Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain / Suffolk County Community College) and Sebastian Prosiy (St. Nom la Breteche, France) finished the victories for the Eagles, defeating Adrian Lai and Haley Dodson in the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

face Lafayette, Monday at 2:30 in Easton, Pa.
