AU Men's Tennis Earn Fifth 7-0 Victory of the Season
Eagles defeat Lafayette, 7-0

Andreas Kulcsar took home a No. 1 doubles victory, helping the Eagles to a 7-0 victory over Lafayette.

WASHINGTON - In the last Patriot League match before the tournament, the AU men's tennis team earned their fifth 7-0 victory of the season, sweeping the Lafayette Leopards in both singles and doubles.

Senior Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) played in the No. 1 position for American, defeating Andrew Mott in an even 6-3, 6-3. Fliegelman also helped the team to a doubles victory, defeating Peter Titus and John Zazzu 8-2 in the third spot.

Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain / Suffolk County Community College), Fliegelman's partner in doubles also took home a singles victory for the team, playing in the No. 5 position against Zazzu.

Seniors Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) and Andreas Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg) played in the No. 1 position in doubles, defeating Brett Warren and Craig Helstowski, 8-5. Garg also took home a victory in the second singles spot, defeating Warren, 6-2, 6-3.

Guillaume Tarralle (Paris, France / French International School) earned a victory in the No. 3 singles spot, while sophomore Juancarlo Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo de Superior Vocational/Saint John’s) took home a victory in the No. 4 spot. Sebastian Priosy defeated Devin Murphy, 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6.

The Eagles close their Patriot League season 5-1 overall and in a three-way tie for first place going into the tournaments. League officials will decide on Monday who will host this weekends upcoming tournament.
