AU Men's Tennis Set to Defend Patriot League Title
Eagles will host the tournament for third consecutive year

Tushar Garg will help lead the Eagles to their third Patriot League title.

WASHINGTON – The AU men’s tennis team will once again host the Patriot League tournament, in addition to seeking their third consecutive Patriot League title and NCAA berth, April 24-25.

American finished Patriot League play 5-1 overall, with three perfect 7-0 matches against league opponents, including one against first-round competitor, Navy. The Eagles will face the fourth-ranked Mids, Saturday, April 24 at 9 a.m.

Following the Eagles match and playing in the No. 2 position, the Army Black Knights will face the No. 3 Colgate Raiders, Saturday April 24 at 2 p.m. The winner of each match will go on to the championship match, Sunday April 25 at 9 a.m.

All matches will take place at the American University tennis courts. College Park Indoor Courts will be used as a rain back-up.

Since joining the league, the Eagles have compiled an impressive 17-1 record, dropping their only match to Colgate earlier this season. Led this season by six strong seniors, the Eagles will look this weekend on earning a third NCAA berth.

Seniors Andreas Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg) and Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) will led the squad in doubles, having only dropped one Patriot League match throughout the season. Undefeated in Patriot League play, Garg will play for the Eagles in the second position, while Kulcsar will play for the team in the No. 4 position.

Also leading the Eagles in singles, Guillaume Tarralle (Paris, France / French International School) will play for the team in the No. 1 position, while sophomore Juancarlo Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo de Superior Vocational/Saint John’s) will represent the Eagles at the third position.

Coming off a 12-match winning streak during the season, Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) will play in both the No. 3 doubles position and the No. 4 singles position. Playing with him in doubles, Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain / Suffolk County Community College) will also represent the team in No. 6 singles.
