Tennis Moves on to Patriot League Championships
April 24, 2004 | Results WASHINGTON - The AU men's tennis team swept all four singles matches to defeat the Navy Midshipman, 4-1, in the first round of the Patriot League tournament. They will now move onto the championship match against the winner of the Army/Colgate match. The Eagles opened
up the match, dropping the doubles point, regardless of an 8-6 win in
the first position by Tushar
Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy) and Andreas
Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gum. Nuremberg). The Eagles fought hard in doubles, despite dropping the point. Tarralle and Jason Harris (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Crossroads) battled for the victory, but fell 8-5 in the second position. Seniors Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) and Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain / Suffolk County Community College) also battled game by game, only to fall 9-7 in the end. With the victory, the Eagles will now move on to the Patriot League championships, Sunday April 25 at 9 a.m. The match will take place at the American University Tennis Courts.
