University Men’s Tennis Places
June 29, 2004 Senior Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India / Bradenton Academy), Kulcsar’s doubles partner, joins him on the honor roll with the Eagles highest GPA, at 3.49. Together, Garg and Kulcsar posted a 14-3 overall record, playing in the No. 1 position. In singles, Garg consistently played in the top spot for the Eagles, while Kulcsar finished the season with an 11-6 overall record and a 7-1 Patriot League record. Joining Garg and Kulcsar on the honor roll are seniors Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain / Suffolk County Community College). Fliegelman posted a 3.32 GPA in elementary education, while Rivero earned a 3.38 in international business. In their final season, the two paired up in doubles, playing in the third position, helping lead the team to a third-straight Patriot League championship and NCAA tournament berth. American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, completed its third year of membership in the Patriot League. Since joining the Patriot League, the University has captured league championships in men’s cross country, women’s cross country, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball, field hockey and a regular-season title in men’s basketball.
