American Men's Tennis Competes at DC Metro Championship
Eagles advance to fourth rounds in both singles and doubles action

WASHINGTON - American University's Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India/Bradenton Academy) and Andreas Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gym. Nuremberg) advanced to the fourth round of Flight A Doubles at the 27th Annual DC Metropolitan Intercollegiate Tennis Championships Saturday held on the campuses of AU, Georgetown and George Washington.

AU's Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) advanced to the third round in the Flight B Singles draw with wins over Georgetown's Eric Conrad (6-4, 3-0) and Mary Washington College's Jon Clair (6-2, 6-2). Rubin Riviero (Spain/East Hampton Junior College) also moved into the third round with a win over Towson's Todd Nagez (6-0, 6-2) and Loyola College's Nick Bowers (6-1, 1-6, 10-8). Kulscar beat Maryland's Troy Demers 6-3, 6-3 and then took on University of Maryland-Baltimore County's Tommy Joyce by scores of 6-4, 6-4.

Guilaume Taralle (Paris, France/French International School (Md.) beat GW's Marious Weigert (7-5, 6-1) and moved on to defeat Mary Williams College's Paul Bristow (7-5, 6-3) in Flight A Singles in the second round. Howard University's Jibade Thomas lost to Garg 6-4, 6-4 in a Flight A Singles Consolation Round.

Juan Jaysingh (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) advanced to the third round with wins over Maryland's Pierre Ruder (6-4, 6-1) and Mary Williams College's Matt Rogers (7-5, 7-5) in Flight B Singles.

In Flight B Doubles, Riviero and Fliegelman moved into the fourth round while Jaysingh and Juancarlo Vazquez (Puerto Rico/Centre Educativo Superior Vocational) moved into the third round.

In Flight C Singles, Vazquez earned a spot in the third round with wins over Towson's Mike Edison (6-2, 6-2) and MWC's Erik Thorell (6-4, 6-2).
