Junkal Irigoien is
set to begin her second season as an assistant coach after closing out
a stellar collegiate career at AU.
She earned Colonial Athletic Conference First-Team honors six times and
was an All-Patriot League recipient three times while specializing in
the backstroke events and on relay squads. She currently holds records
in the 50 and 100 backstroke events and is a member of four school record-setting
relays including the 400 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 800
freestyle.
She was also the CAA Women's Rookie Swimmer of the Year in 1999 and a
member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Irigoien, who graduated from American in 2002, resides in the D.C metro-area.
