American
Swimming and Diving Prepares for Patriot League Championships Feb. 5, 2002 WASHINGTON, D.C.
-- After rounding up their regular season with a win
over 2001 Patriot League Champion Army on Saturday, Jan. 26, the American
men's and women's swimming and diving teams are preparing this week for
the 2002 Patriot League Championships to be held on February 14-16 at
the United States Naval Academy. This year, the men
went a perfect 3-0 against Patriot League opponents Navy, Bucknell, and
Army. The women went 2-1, defeating Bucknell and Army but falling to Navy.
A recent collegeswimming.com poll placed the American men at No. 15 in
the nation and the women at No. 10 for all mid-major programs. Spectator tickets
to the championship will be on sale at the door one hour prior to the
beginning of the meet. There will be no advance sale of tickets. Visitors
are not allowed to dirve on the Yard; tentative plans are for visitors
to park at the Navy/Marine Corps Memorial Football Stadium to take a shuttle
bus to Lejeune Hall.
