Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Drop Dual to Georgia Tech
Men Fall, 182-126, Women Fall, 180.5-131.5

Meet Results -- Nov. 10, 2001

WASHINGTON -- American took to the pool for its first combined dual of the season against Georgia Tech on Saturday in the Reeves Aquatic Center. The Eagle men fell, 182-126, to the Yellow Jackets, while the women dropped a 180.5-131.5 decision.

On the women's side, American claimed top honors in five events, and had several strong showings throught the competition. The men, meanwhile, won seven individual events.

Jess Lidstrom won the 200 Free in 1:55.91, while Stina Lindman claimed the 100 Breastsroke in 1:06.92. Junkal Irigoien captured the 200 Back in 2:06.81, while Maria Ortiz won the 200 Breast in 2:23.45. Lindsay McDavitt rounded out the AU winners with a victory in the 400 IM in 4:37.41.

On the men's side, Ethan Bassett, Mark Liscinsky, and Stephen Maher were all double winners. Bassett claimed the 200 Breast (2:04.37) and the 400 IM (4:04.00), Liscinsky won the 50 Free (21.26) and 200 Back (1:51.10), while Maher won the 100 Free (47.71) and the 200 Free (1:44.23). Dominick Szabo also claimed first place in the 100 Breaststroke (57.01).

The men's and women's swimming & diving teams will be back in action next Saturday, Nov. 17, when they travel to Annapolis, Md., to face Patriot League foes Bucknell and Navy. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
