American Swimming Splits With Lehigh
Men remain strong in dual meets as women drop close one

Jessica Lidstrom and Mark Liscinsky were tri-winners for AU against Lehigh this weekend.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The American University men's swimming and diving team overcame a tough Lehigh squad to win 122-121 as the women's team fell to the Mountain Hawks, 143-120, Friday night at Jacobs Pool.

Jessica Lidstrom and Mark Liscinsky, who set two pool records, each tallied three wins for the Eagles and Ethan Bassett and Dominick Szabo each secured a pair of wins as Lehigh captured first on all the relays.

Lidstrom garnered first in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.70, in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.78 and also in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.04. Liscinsky took first and set pool records in both the 50-yard freestyle (21.30) and in the 100-yard freestyle (45.88). He was also first in the 200-yard backstroke 1:54.27.

Bassett was key for the men's side, taking top honors in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:42.46 and the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:40.22. He also took second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.85. Szabo defeated the second-place finisher in the 200-yard IM by almost four seconds with a time of 1:55.53. He was also first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:04.99, setting a new pool record in the process. Szabo was key in AU's second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay.

Other winners for American include Kia Kilpinen, who was first in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.62. Christina Huang was strong in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:27.79 - good enough for first. She was second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:12.19 and also earned points in the 1000-yard freestyle with a third-place finish in 10:53.01.

In diving events, AU's Sara Barger and Adam Schryver were solid for the Eagles. Barger compiled 193.80 points for first in the 3-meter event and also nabbed second on the 1-meter board with 149.48 points. Schryver finished with 203.03 points for the win the 1-meter diving and was second in the 3-meter event with 227.40 points.

Erwan Jeffroy had a strong meet with a second-place finish in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.69) and the 500 freestyle (4:46.11).

Elizabeth West was impressive for American, taking second in the 200-yard IM in 2:16.47 while solidifying third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:11.74. Stephen Maher was the top AU finisher in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.34 while Estebe Salgado was third in 2:00.79.

The Mountain Hawks were first in all the relays with American taking second twice and third in the final two. Elizabeth Bresnahan-McRae, Maria Ortiz, Chelsea Oudin and Kilpinen were second in the 400-yard medley in 4:07.74 while Mike Lawson, Szabo, Maher and Salgado were second in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:31.22.

In the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, Kim Nichols, Cassie Cullen, Lindsay McDavitt and Christine Mikulski were third in 3:59.74 while Jeffroy, Kyle Taylor, Daniel Sinetar and Tim Miller were third in the men's 400-yard freestyle.

Next Saturday, American heads to Virginia Tech to face the Hokies and West Virginia at 1 p.m.
