AU's Lidstrom Named PL Swimmer of the Week
Junior notches three wins against Black Knights

WASHINGTON -- American University's Jessica Lidstrom (Stockholm, Sweden/The Swedish School in London) was honored as the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week after nabbing three wins against Army in a dual meet at West Point, N.Y.

Lidstrom, the 2001-02 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, finished first in the 200 IM (2:13.50), 100 freestyle (54.04) and 200 freestyle (1:56.94) as the AU women's swimming and diving team fell to Army, 171-129.

The MVP of last season's team, Lidstrom was victorious in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events against the University of Maryland-Baltimore County on October 25 at the Reeves Aquatic Center.

American heads to Lewisburg, Pa. this weekend to face the host Bucknell and Navy.

American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, recently completed its inaugural year of membership in the Patriot League. The University had an extremely successful year to date on respective fields of play, capturing league championships in men's cross country, women's cross country, men’s soccer, women's soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse.
