LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The American University men's and women's swimming team set a pair of Patriot League meet records and one league record Thursday afternoon in its first day of competition at the Patriot League Championships held at Bucknell University's Arthur D. Kinney Natatorium.

The AU men's squad is currently in third place with 186 points behind the Bison with 218 and defending champion Lehigh with 187. West Point is a close fourth with 169 points while Lafayette (115), Colgate (109) and Holy Cross (64) fill out the rest of the standings. On the women's side, the Eagles are currently in sixth with 80.50 points as Bucknell is a strong first with 231.50 points followed by Navy with 164. Lehigh is in third with 143 while Colgate (108) and West Point (104) are fourth and fifth, respectively. Holy Cross has 58 points for seventh and Lafayette compiled 26 points for the eighth spot.

Starting the meet off strong, AU senior Mark Liscinsky (Olney, Md./Sherwood) and junior Dominick Szabo (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) finished 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley. Liscinsky reset the meet and league records that he already owned in the 200 IM with a finish of 1:47.20 followed by Szabo in 1:50.22. Senior Mike Lawson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) took seventh in 1:55.69 in the same event.

Junior Erwan Jeffroy (Mareil-Marly, France/Lycee Jeanne D'Albret) registered a new meet record in the 500 freestyle as he finished first in 4:28.42. Teammate Ethan Bassett (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill), who held the previous record, was second in 4:31.74.

The American men's 400 medley relay team nabbed first in 3:20.71 to set another new meet record. The time beat the former record of 3:22.36 already owned by AU by almost two seconds. Members of the relay included Lawson, Szabo, Stephen Maher (Stuart, Fla./Lincoln) and Liscinsky.

The American men's 200 freestyle relay team of Liscinsky, Szabo, Estebe Salgado (San Sebastian, Spain/I.E.S. Usandizaga) and Maher also had an impressive finish in 1:23.11 for third place.

Junior Jessica Lidstrom (Stockholm, Sweden/The Swedish School in London) nabbed fifth in the 200 IM in 2:08.95 and was a member of the fifth-place finishing AU 400 medley relay team that touched at 4:00.94. Senior Elizabeth Bresnahan-McRae (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown), junior Kia Kilpinen (Stockholm, Sweden/ASO Gymnasium) and senior Elizabeth West (Brentwood, Tenn./University School of Nashville) set the pace for the anchoring Lidstrom.

Lidstrom, Kilpinen, freshman Chelsea Oudin (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Senior High) and Bresnahan-McRae were sixth in the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:39.37, five seconds off the top-finishing Bucknell foursome.
