Ethan Bassett took home his 14th PL Championship Title, winning the 200 breaststroke.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior Ethan Bassett (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) took home his second straight Patriot League Championship title for the meet and his 14th title overall, as he closed out his final collegiate conference championship with a NCAA ‘B’ cut in the 200 breaststroke.

Just missing his own Patriot League record in the preliminaries, Bassett set himself up for finals in the top position after swimming the breaststroke in a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 2:00.60. In the finals, Bassett secured his victory with a time of 2:01.00, two seconds faster than his closest competitor.

Cami Miller (Mission Hills, Kan/Shawnee Mission East/ Kentucky) took home the AU women’s only first place finish of the meet, swimming the 1650 freestyle in a time of 17:05.87, only one second off the AU Eagles six year old school record. Previously in the meet, Miller took home a third place finish in the 500 free and a seventh place finish in the 400 IM.

In the 200 backstroke freshman Kaitlin Moughty (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) continued her strong meet, finishing fourth overall in 2:08.00, while for the men, Stephen Brennen (Murraysville, Pa../Franklin Regional), Kevin Falkenstein (Westmont, N.J./Westmont) and Erwan Jeffory (Mareil-Marly, France/Lycee Jeanne D'Albret) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Stephen Maher (Stuart, Fla./Lincoln) won his third consolation heat of the meet, taking home ninth place in the 100 free (46.39), while fellow senior Jessica Lidstrom (Stockholm, Sweden/The Swedish School in London) finished fourth in the same event in 52.25, her fastest time of the season.

The team of Jeffory, Valery Fomenko (Jovy-En-Josas, France/EspadonDevelizy), Maher and Bassett closed the meet out for the Eagle in the 400 freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 3:06.09.

The AU men’s swimming and diving team close out the season finishing in fifth place, only one point behind Lehigh, while the women close out the season in place.
