BETHLEHEM, Pa. — American's women's track team continued to establish new records this indoor track season Saturday at the Lehigh Quad. Competing against Rider, Wagner and Patriot League foe Lehigh, the Eagles brought home two first place finishes. American finished fourth overall in the meet with Rider edging out Lehigh for the victory.

Sophomore Jen Baclawski set a new school record in the 3,000-meter run, winning the event in 10:25.93. The previous week, Baclawski missed the school record in the 3,000-meter run by only 1.31 seconds. Teammate Heidi Fishpaw finished fourth in the race and is now sixth all-time in the 3,000-meters. In a non-scoring event, Samia Akbar set the school record in the 5,000-meter run, winning the event in 17:20.14.

American's other individual champion was freshman Megan Simpson in the mile. Simpson finished more than six seconds ahead of her nearest competitor in 5:18.63. She moves to second best all-time at American with this performance. Fellow freshman Siobhan Uniacke finished ninth in the event and moves to sixth all-time in the mile.

Leah Heinecke Krumhus sliced six seconds off of her personal best in the 800-meter run and moved to third all-time with her fourth place finish in 2:29.51. Brittany Scott placed seventh in the same event and is now sixth all-time with her time of 2:38.99. Shondrea Horton ran a personal best time in the 400-meter dash of 1:07.55 and is now third all-time in the event.

American's women have been rewriting the record book so far this indoor season. Through only three meets, eight school records have been broken. Also, 31 additions have been made to the all-time top-10 list. The Eagles still have their first Patriot League track championships to look forward to in February at Army.

The women’s team return to action on January 27 at the P.G. County Invitational. The meet gets underway at 10:00 a.m.
