Limited Squad Competes for AU Men's Track at Thomson Invitational
MacAdie Runs Second Fastest Indoor 5,000-meters Ever

NEWARK, Del. — American University’s men’s track team sent a limited squad to the University of Delaware to compete in the Thomson Invitational Sautrday and Sunday. Five men's athletes competed against a number of Division I opponents including Penn, St. Joseph's, Temple, Towson and the host Blue Hens.

Freshman Patrick MacAdie turned in the top performance of the meet for the Eagles in the 5,000-meters. Running the event for the first time in his career, MacAdie posted the second fastest time ever in American University history, running 15:07.67. He also finished second in the race, just a couple of seconds behind Pat Riley of Delaware.

Junior Andy Ellerhorst also turned in a solid performance, running the 500-meters in 1:06.81. He placed fourth in the meet and missed his own school record by only .81 seconds.

Running in only his second meet of the season, junior John Campbell improved his time in the 200-meters, running 23.86. Sophomore Ed Topolewski just missed his personal best in the 400-meters, running 52.68. Junior Jose Morales ran the 800-meters, finishing in 2:06.58.

The men’s team return to action on Feb. 16-17 at the Patriot League Championships in West Point, N.Y.. The meet gets underway at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
