Sean O'Brien set a new school record in the 800m.

VILLANOVA, Pa. — American University senior Sean O'Brien broke his own school record in the 800-meters at the Tuppeny Twilight Meet hosted by Villanova in one of the final meets before the NCAA Regional Championships.

O'Brien broke his old mark by .26 seconds, running 1:50.56 to establish the new mark. He beat Georgetown's Chris Lukezic who placed second in 1:50.82. O'Brien, the Patriot League 800m Champion, had already qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships in the event, but improved his seed time at the meet.

Sophomore Sean Duffy placed seventh in the 1500m, finishing as the third collegiate runner. Duffy, the Patriot League 1500m Champion, ran 3:55.54.

Also competing at the meet, junior Ed Topolewski ran a season-best 50.56 in the 400m to place sixth.

The NCAA Regional Championships will be hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. on May 30-31.
