WASHINGTON — American University senior Jen Baclawski (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) has been selected the Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 19, 2004, league officials announced Tuesday.
Baclawski earned the honor for her efforts at Navy on Saturday, Jan. 17, when she won the 5000m race in a time of 18:16.47. The time was nearly 31 seconds faster than her closest competitor and is the fourth-best 5000m indoor time in school history. The award is the first for Baclawski.
In the fall, Baclawski was named First Team All-Patriot League for her third-place finish at the Patriot League Championship meet. It is the second consecutive season in which she was named to the league’s top cross country squad.
