Gaeta Named Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Sophomore earns award for win in 800m at Navy

Sophomore Phil Gaeta was named the Patriot League Men's Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25, 2004.

WASHINGTON — Sophomore distance runner Phil Gaeta (Herndon, Va./Oakton) was named the Patriot League Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25, 2004, the Patriot League announced Tuesday.

Gaeta earns his first career PL Athlete of the Week award for his performance in the 800m race at Navy on Saturday, Jan. 24. Gaeta won the event in a time of 1:53.66, the third-best time in school history. His time was nearly five seconds faster than his closest competitor, and qualified him for the end-of-season IC4A Championship meet.

Gaeta is coming off a fall Cross Country season in which he finished seventh at the Patriot League championship meet, in a time of 25:48.4, earning a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team. Gaeta also finished 27th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
