Qualifies for 1500m Semifinals at Olympic Trials
July 16, 2004 | Results WASHINGTON Former American University track athlete and current AU assistant coach Sean O’Brien (Tewksbury, Mass./Winnisquam Regional) on Thursday qualified for the finals of the 1500m run at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Sacramento, Calif. O'Brien ran a 3:42.90, finishing seventh in the first heat. The top six runners in each of the three heats, plus the next six fastest times. O'Brien's time tied for the 13th-fastest time, and was the fastest time among runners who did not finish in the top-six of their heats. O'Brien advances to the semifinals tonight at 7:40 p.m. (PST). The race will be broadcast live on the USA Network. The top 12 finishers in the semifinals advance to the finals on Sunday, July 18 at 4:30 p.m. (PST). Here is tonight's start list.
