Samia Akbar begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Eagles, after finishing a stellar four-year career as a standout on the AU squad. Akbar is currently pursuing a graduate degree at American University.
Akbar is American University’s most decorated female runner ever, having been named a 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track All-American. She also holds five indoor and three outdoor school records and ran on two indoor relays and two outdoor relays that set school marks. In addition, Akbar holds three indoor school records and four outdoor school records as well as being a member four school record-holding relay teams.
