Volleyball Extends Streak to Seven
Eagles sweep Lafayette to remain perfect in Patriot League

WASHINGTON -- The American volleyball team posted a .481 attack percentage en route to a 3-0 win over visiting Lafayette on Saturday at Bender Arena. Scores of the match were 30-10, 30-15, 30-13.

The win improves the Patriot League Preseason Favorite Eagles to a perfect 6-0 in the league and 12-2 overall while extending their win-streak to seven matches.

Freshman Cathy Fluegeman (Muncie, Ind./Burris Laboratory School) paced the American offense with 12 kills while classmate Courtney Mulford (San Diego, Calif./La Costa) added 26 assists and five service aces in her first collegiate start.

Senior Eneida Muzhaqi (Elbasan, Albania/Qwmal Stafa) chipped in with 10 kills and a .563 attack percentage in the win.

Lafayette extended its losing streak to 39 matches, dating back to September of last year, and falls to 0-18 overall and 0-6 in the Patriot League.

American heads to nearby Georgetown on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup against the Hoyas at 7:00 p.m.
