EASTON, Pa. -- American University volleyball extended its winning streak to 15 matches while handing struggling Lafayette its 49th straight defeat in a 3-0 Eagle victory on Friday at the Allan P. Kirby Sports Center. Scores of the match were 30-16, 30-17, 30-20, and keep the Eagles perfect at 12-0 in the Patriot League and 20-2 overall this season. American posted 43 kills to the Leopards 18 while also notching 10 total blocks and 23 service aces in the league matchup. Freshman Natacha
Cornaz (Lausanne, Switzerland/Gymnase Auguste Piccard), who ranks
ninth in the country in service aces, bumped up her average with a school
record 11 aces and no errors against Lafayette. Lafayette continued its woes, dropping to 0-28 on the season and 0-12 in the Patriot League. The Leopards have not celebrated a win since Sept. 9, 2000, at Drexel. American heads to
Lehigh University on Saturday for a match that will determine the top
seed, and hosting responsibilties, of the Patriot League Championship.
An Eagle win will clinch the Patriot League Regular Season Title.
