WASHINGTON -- The American University volleyball team hit over .500 percent Saturday night at Bender Arena, handily beating Army 3-0 by scores of 30-17, 30-13, 30-22. AU is now 10-6 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League while the Black Knights drop to 4-11 overall and 0-2 in PL play.
Three different Eagles had 10 kills each including Judit Szekelyhidi, Erin Allgaier and Karla Kucerkova. Sophomore Courtney Mulford had 36 assists and four kills.
AU trailed 7-1 in the early minutes of Game 1 but quickly turned the momentum around with a 9-7 lead that expanded into a win.
American freshman Cutrina Biddulph and sophomore Cathy Fluegeman each added six kills each.
For the Black Knights, Caitlin Machon had nine kills and six digs.
