October 11, 2003 | Stats WASHINGTON- Junior Cathy Fluegeman (Muncie, Ind./Burris Laboratory School) led the AU Eagles to victory over Colgate with eight kills, four digs, six blocks and a service ace. AU defeated the Red Raiders 3-0 (30-15, 33-31, 30-11), and are now 9-8 overall, and 5-0 in the Patriot League. The Eagles played a strong first game against the Raiders, winning the game 30-15. With the score 13-9, the Eagles went on a 7-2, to help establish a nine-point lead. Five different Eagles notched kills during the run, and Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) had two of the seven. She finished with six kills, and a .500 hitting percentage. AU struggled through most of the second game, but were able to pull out an exciting 33-31 victory. They trailed 28-20 at one point, but then outscored Colgate 13-3 to win the game. Erin Allagier (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central), who led the team with 10 kills to go along with 11 digs and three service aces, collected five of her 11 kills on the 13-3 run. Freshman Liz Mahoney (Toronto, Ontario/Richview, C.I.), who finished with nine kills, nine digs, and one service ace, registered AU's last two kills of the rally, with Allagier providing one of the sets. During the third game the Eagles dominated once again, winning 30-11.The Eagles jumped out to a 10-1 lead, and eventually stretched it to 18 points, 27-9. The Eagles will next
play against Navy on October 17 at Bender Arena. The match is set to begin
