AU Sweeps Navy, 3-0
Eagles run Patriot League streak to 35 straight matches

WASHINGTON - In front of an enthusiastic homecoming crowd, the Eagles were able to beat Navy 3-0 (30-26, 30-15, 30-19), and extend their Patriot League winning streak to 35. Junior Erin Allgaier (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) led the way with 15 kills, and 10 defensive digs.

The Eagles kept the Midshipmen within three during the first game, but they were able to pull ahead and finish 30-27. Junior Sabrina Vasconcelos (Fortalezza, Brazil/Colegio Christus) led the team defensively with 4 digs.

During the second game, the Eagles were strongly led by Allgaier (5 kills, 3 digs), and by senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) with 4 kills. The Eagles were able to keep the Mids within 3 the entire game and won 30-15.

In game three, the Eagles started the game by taking the first seven points, but let Navy come back within three to make it a close game. The Eagles were able to hold onto the lead, securing the match, 29-19.

The Eagles are now 10-8 overall, and 7-0 in the Patriot League. The team will travel across town on Saturday to take on Georgetown at 7 p.m.
