Defeats Georgetown 3-1
October 18, 2003 | Stats WASHINGTON - Senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) and junior Erin Allgaier (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) led the AU volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-28, 30-14, 28-30, 30-20) victory over Georgetown. Kucerkova had 21 kills, 10 digs, and 5 blocks, while her teammate Allgaier had 14 digs, and 18 digs. The first game of the match started with the Eagles taking an early lead, only to have the Hoyas come back and take it away. As the match progressed, the two teams kept the score within two of each other. With Kucerkova leading the way with 7 kills and 3 digs, the Eagles were able to come back and take the game 30-28. The second game started with sophomore Cutrina Biddulph (Reseda, Calif./Granada Falls) serving for the first eight points, with one service ace in the mix. The Eagles didn’t look back as they dominated and won 30-14. Game three started with the Eagles on top, but the Hoyas were able to tie it up 18-18, and then taking the lead away from AU. Although the Eagles continued to fight back, keeping the score within one, the Hoyas were able to take the third game 30-28. The Eagles were able to quickly clinch the match in the fourth game 30-20 to extend their seven game winning streak to eight. AU will next take on Lafayette on October 24, at 7 p.m. Game Summary: Kills: AU:
