Allgaier
named Baden Player of the Week
October 20, 2003 WASHINGTON-Junior Erin Allgaier (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) has been named Baden Player of the Week for the week of October 19. Allgaier receives this honor for the first time in her career after leading AU to winning two wins this weekend over Navy and Georgetown. Allgaier performed exceptional this past week, as she led the Eagles against Navy with a season high of 15 kills, and 10 digs. To round out the weekend, she had 14 kills and a season high of 18 digs against the Hoyas. A Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member in 2002, Allgaier has played in all 67 games this season, and has been an instrumental member of the team; leading them to 35 straight Patriot League wins, and their 11-8 record. The Eagle will try and continue their winning Patriot League streak on October 24, as they take on Lafayette at 7 p.m. American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, is in its third year of membership in the Patriot League. Since joining the Patriot League, the University has captured league championships in men’s cross country, women’s cross country, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball, and a regular-season title in men’s basketball.
